Welcome to Our Page

Égbé Egúngún of Ile Ijo Orunmila Ati Orisa welcomes you. Égbé Egúngún is a collective of priests working together to bring Afrikans back to "the way, our way" through ancestral veneration and spiritual development. We are an Égbé of reciprocity, replenishment, balance, truth, and righteousness. We are committed to restoring our relationships and re-establishing who we are through ancestral support and communal celebrations. As our Égbé continues to grow and venerate our ancestors, we invite you to join us on our journey.

Eégún Festival

The Eégún festival is held on an annual basis so that we can strengthen Égbé Egúngún activities and develop our community programs as time goes on.

The next festival will be in 2011 since we are changing venues to Atlanta and spent this year establishing relationships in the Atlanta community so that we have a collective experience. So keep your eye out here for the updates or you can be on our mailing list and receive information about the 2010 gathering and all of our other activities, simply complete the subscription form below and visit here.

Égbé Retreats

We had one of our regularly scheduled retreats that focuses on training, planning, ebo and a variety of topics. We accomplished a lot during this time, hosting two successful events as well as getting in some time to relate to each other. You can read more about our retreat and festival

What does it mean to answer the call of one's ancestors?

Sàngóyemí Adédìran

At this point in my development, to answer the call of my ancestors means so many things. First it means to address issues related to my growth and transformation. I realize that I have to do the work to uncover and deal with the pain and ill that has preceded me. This is my path. I answered the call. Secondly it means to learn the way of my ancestors. I come from line of believers, diviners, and strong people. I have to KNOW what they did to maintain their faith through it all. This is my path. I answered the call. Third, it means to walk with integrity and character.

Over the last few years I have grown to appreciate character. Ìwà rere (good character) is not easy to maintain. It demands commitment and truth. This is my path. I answered the call. Finally, to answer the call means to always remember there will be others who will follow me. Although I have no children born yet from my womb, I know that I am responsible for nurturing and guiding many children around me. Therefore, it is my responsibility to continue on this path. This is my path. I answered the call.

When I was first initiated to Egun, I had no idea that six years later I would be here and in this space. I am blessed to have the love and support of my ancestors. I am blessed to know that I come from greatness. I am blessed because in spite of all the pain, hurt, confusion, abuse, illness, and negativity, I am here Sangoyemi Adediran priest of Egun and Sango.
