History for the Taking

Our Ilé

Ìjo Òrúnmìlà Àti Òrìsà, from the rainforest in Belize, greets you in the name of our ancestors, Ifá and Òrìsà. We are an International, cyber Ilé with Egbé homes in Belize, San Diego, Oakland, Atlanta and Tallahassee.

Our ancestors call us to recognize that aggression against African people reached a hundred year apex of violence and brutality as one hundred years of the trade in human beings destroyed and erased the existence of whole villages, peoples, traditions, rituals, ceremonies, histories and languages. It has been estimated that 60 to 90 million African lives were lost in the Middle Passage, not to mention the huge toll of African human life lost on plantations in the Caribbean, North America, Central America, South America and Europe.

The MAAFA (African holocaust) continues and we are seeking to halt ethnic cleansing and annihilation of indigenous African cultures and demonstrate the positive values of our heritage through African Traditional Religion (ATR) to inspire Africans worldwide to hold on to our traditions and values and restore the glory and dignity of the highest standards of African tradition.

If you enjoy this site, visit often. We are ever growing, ever changing as spirit helps us to find OUR WAY. Perhaps we will meet sometime in ritual in beautiful Belize.

Discover Our Egbé

Our activities are as diverse as our locations moving in the same direction. Each location has a local Egbé and we have Egbé Egúngún as well as Igbimolosa. Through the work of our Egbé the goals of the Ilé for Spiritual Development, Economic Development and Mutual Aid are achieved. Our principles lead us to many specific actions which you learn about throughout this site.
